Dani Dyer: ‘I fast-forward my dad’s X-rated scenes’

TV star Dani Dyer opens up to Closer about her famous dad, life as a mum of three and being a WAG…

She was bound to be a star – after all, she was named after her legendary dad, actor Danny Dyer. And as he returns to our screens on the Disney+ hit series Rivals, Dani Dyer admits she’ll be turning in to support him – but there’s one part she definitely won’t be watching.

Speaking about his steamy on-screen scenes, Dani, 29, shares, ‘He says it’s storytelling. I just fast‑forward. I find sex scenes weird anyway – especially with your mum or mother‑in‑law there. A quick fast-forward, and it’s fine.’

And how does she feel about people fancying her dad? ‘I’m used to it now,’ Dani says. ‘I think everyone loves Freddie [his character on Rivals]. He’s having his big moment and he deserves it – he’s going from strength to strength. I love seeing him get recognition. He’s 50 next year and for the past five years, he’s been climbing the ladder – he even won a BAFTA. Good on him. I’m glad people fancy him, why not?’

Ironically, Danny – who has been married to wife Jo Mas since 2016 – said himself that he wouldn’t be watching his daughter getting hot under the covers during her stint on Love Island back in 2018, when Dani rose to mainstream fame.

After winning the show with Jack Fincham, she went on to build a successful career – appearing on shows including Celebrity Masterchef in 2023 and Strictly Come Dancing in 2025, although she was forced to pull out after fracturing her ankle.

After splitting with co-star Jack, 34, following nine moths together, she rekindled her romance with Sammy Kimmence in 2019 after the pair had dated years prior. They welcomed son Santiago in 2021, just months before Sammy, 30, was jailed for 42 months for defrauding pensioners.

Dani then found love with England footballer Jarrod Bowen in late 2021 after becoming neighbours. The pair welcomed their twins daughter, Summer and Star, in 2023, before tying the knot in a lavish ceremony in Buckinghamshire last May.

With the World Cup set to start in June, Dani and West Ham United star Jarrod, 29, are eagerly awaiting the call-up to find out if he will be joining the England squad in the US – and fans are no doubt excited to see the glamourous WAGs in formation.

Dani says that if Jarrod is selected, she’d love to go and hang with her WAG pals. ‘They’re all lovely, When we meet up for dinners, it’s just nice to chat with them because they get it as well,’ she tells us.

‘We had a group chat for the Euros. You get close really quickly because you spend so much time together. They’re all amazing and the way they dress is 10 out of 10. The way some of the other women look is so glamorous – I need a better wardrobe! I want to try Pilates if I go away. When I get my free time, I’d love to try different workout classes. I’d have my kids with me, so I’d also be exploring things with them too. It’s an incredible experience.’

Dani and Jarrod are also preparing to celebrate their first wedding anniversary this month, and Dani says that they’ll be doing something special to mark the occasion. ‘We’ll definitely do a little night away somewhere. I can’t believe it’s coming up to a year – it’s been the fastest year ever. I think I’ll be really emotional – I was so emotional after we got married.’

She also explains that they do try to squeeze in the odd date night, despite their busy work schedules – even if it’s just watching TV in bed.

‘We try. It isn’t weekly, but even if it’s just breakfast or coffee when he has a day off. Sometimes it’s just getting into bed and watching a series together. We prioritise time together. I watched the David Beckham [Netflix] documentary without him and he couldn’t believe it!’ she admits.

Dani adds that juggling the kids – who she recently took for a visit at Chessington World of Adventures’ World of PAW Patrol – is hard, but that she’d never say never to more. ‘You never know what the future holds,’ she shares. ‘Right now, my cup is filled – it’s filled to the brim. But you never know what could happen in the future.’
